In California, most divorces are based on the grounds of irreconcilable
differences. You don't have to prove that someone was "at fault." Your spouse
can't prevent the divorce and, provided certain procedural steps and residency
conditions are met, the court will grant your divorce.
There is a mandatory waiting period of six months after the divorce petition
has been served on your spouse before a judgment of divorce can be entered.
While simple divorces are often settled by agreement, those involving
significant assets or complex issues may require litigation for resolution.
